Shoals kidney and hypertension center
Shoals kidney and hypertension center has a clinical laboratory on site. The laboratory is located directly adjacent to the waiting room. There is a phlebotomy room attached to the waiting room where patients can get the blood drawn. The results from the laboratory are fully integrated into our electronic medical record system. In the majority of cases we can have clinical results available within 1 hour. The ability to have rapid access to laboratory information allows us to make decisions regarding patient care while the patient is still in the clinic versus having to call them back later.
Shoals Kidney and Hypertension Center laboratory is accredited by Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) and our lab is also certified by the American Profiency Institute for precision and accuracy. The chemistry analyzer is capable of performing Comprehensive and Basic Metabolic Profiles, Lipid Profile, Urine Sodium Potassium Protein and Creatinine, Iron studies, uric acid, phosphorous, and magnesium. We do some Special Immunochemistry’s including TSH, Folate, Ferritin, Vitamin B12, Vitamin D, and Intact Parathyroid Hormone. Other testing include Complete Blood Count ,Urinalysis, Hemoglobin A1C , Flu, Covid testing, and Occult Blood. Patients are encouraged to come up to a week before doctor appointments for blood draw Monday through Friday 8:30 to 11:00 and 1:00 to 3:00 Monday through Thursday.
There are times that the lab is more busy and there could be a longer delay with regards to blood draws. Typically Monday mornings is somewhat slow.
